● Age-appropriateness & audience awareness – Ensure language, themes, and content are suitable for the intended readership.

● Read-aloud flow & rhythm – Refine cadence and phrasing to create a smooth, engaging read-aloud experience.

● Consistency (especially for series or characters) – Maintain consistent character behavior, tone, and narrative voice throughout.

● Sensitivity to illustration space (picture books) – Review text length and pacing with consideration for illustration placement.
