The EBM Professional Services team specializes in content editing, copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, and manuscript critiques for ALL document types.
Content Editing involves ensuring the general accuracy and consistency of content. It checks to make sure logic and ideas make sense. A document submitted for content editing will go through the following checklist: Does the work have a clear focus on one topic? Does the introduction grab interest and offer a clear purpose for reading? Are the facts accurate? Does the work follow a logical plan from beginning to end? Does the body of the work present well-ordered paragraphs of main ideas with relevant, supporting details? Does the conclusion leave readers feeling satisfied?
Copyediting involves correcting errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. A document submitted for copyediting will receive suggestions to improve stylistic consistency. We will focus on sentence structure to improve readability, use of active vs. passive voice, proper word usage, clarity of meaning, subject/verb agreement, and overuse of words or phrases and redundancies.
If your document is already polished (it has been content edited and copyedited) and simply needs a final check, we will thoroughly review it to ensure correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Do you need an honest, unbiased critique of your manuscript? Our manuscript critique service is just what you need for your fiction or nonfiction work. An experienced editor will read and critique your manuscript. We will assess if your work is salable and analyze key elements such as plot, dialogue, structure, consistency, and organization.
You will receive an easy to follow, detailed critique of your manuscript that will highlight major issues to be addressed and suggestions to help you progress with your project.
Now that your work has been professionally edited, it’s time to focus on the layout of the book. The typeset process results in text and images carefully being arranged in preparation for printing. The printing company will not typeset your document. They will print what you send them; therefore, you must make sure your words are professionally formatted on the page. This includes fonts, kerning, leading, chapter breaks, and many other technical details. Although the typeset process may appear simple, it is actually a very technical and time-consuming process. Failure to properly manage and edit the typeset will result in your book being visually unappealing.
A well-designed text is a mark of quality and professionalism. It also influences the readers’ experience. Our typesetting service offers quality results by following and enforcing internal rules and industry standards.

What type of documents do you edit?
EBM Professional Services is qualified to edit any type of document. Visit our Services page for a list of documents you can submit to us.
What happens after a document is submitted to be edited?
We will email you a contract and instructions. You return the signed contract along with your complete document and your initial payment. We will then assign an editor to your project.
How long will it take to edit my project?
Projects less than 50 pages have a turnaround time of 5 - 7 business days. Longer documents (completed manuscripts, technical manuals, etc.) require more time, depending on the length. Rush jobs on projects are also available for an additional charge.
What are your terms and methods of payment?
A 50% deposit is due upon signing and returning the Contract. However, in order to ease the financial burden on your budget, we will consider other payment structures on a case-by-case basis and will work with you to accommodate your needs. We accept payment via PayPal, cash, personal checks, cashier's checks, and money orders. There is a $30 processing fee for any check returned due to insufficient funds.
What if I'm under 18 years old and want my work edited?
Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian to sign the contract and guarantee payment.
What can I expect for my fee?
Each service has specific requirements that are outlined in the contract you will receive. You will be made aware of the specifics of the services you are requesting, as well as the timeline of the services that will be provided.
Is this service confidential?
Yes. EBM Professional Services will not sell, transfer, or share any client information with any other party. You maintain all intellectual rights to your documents, original and edited. EBM Professional Services reserves the right to keep a copy of all completed work for promotional purposes (upon your approval). EBM Professional Services will not reveal the identity or any information of the individual or business without your signed consent.
Can you guarantee that my edited manuscript will be accepted by an agent or publisher?
No. It would be unethical and untrue to guarantee that having your manuscript or article edited will result in publication. EBM Professional Services will guarantee to do our best work in order to increase your chances of publication.
